The Gatzke Collection
Michael Gatzke is the son and heir to the Gatzke family who came to Canada from Germany several decades ago following
World War II. He and his family bought land in the Okanagan Valley and began farming. They now have considerable fruit orchards
and Michael spends most of his time working the land. He is, however, another keen collector of Marion's work and has four
paintings in his collection.
Dance 1 proved popular enough for Marion to create a series of the dance series each featuring a dress as a leitmotif.
Michael Gatzke has been a life long enthusiast of cello music and this piece by Marion was commissioned for him by his
friend Valerie who has herself recently bought Dance 2.
The Tyler Barrs Collection
Tyler Barrs is not only an avid art collector but also a highly successful singer-songwriter and lawyer. Tyler lived
abroad while growing up, spending time in Italy in his teens, and has traveled extensively in Europe and South America. Fluent
in French and Italian, capable of flirting in Spanish and Portuguese, Tyler writes and sings primarily in his native English,
but also in the Latin languages of love. He counts among his inspirations the great Brazilian artists Joćo Gilberto and
Antonio Carlos Jobim. His verbal dexterity has been finely honed in the courtroom. Tyler graduated from Canada’s McGill
University law school in 1993 and has since practiced law in the fields of entertainment and sports. With his left brain battling
his right for years, Tyler finally made a resolution at the stroke of midnight 2001 to pursue his deep-seated passion for
music.
The Valerie Skirten Collection
Valerie has been buying Marion's art for a number of years now and is particularly interested in the Dance series
of paintings. She has recently commissioned Dance IV for her daughter Amber and bought The Forest, which
was featured in the 'Women, Souls and Persons' exhibition at the Kelowna Art Gallery in 2004, for
her son Troy.
Liza Christodoulou
Liza recently married David and is an old friend of the family. She lives in London, England where she continues to spread
her magic!
